 Water and sewer invoices are generated based on water usage measured by your water meter. Water meters are read four times per year.

The following diagram and instructions will assist you with reviewing your water consumption and become familiar with your water meter.

HOW TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOU HAVE A LEAK IN YOUR HOME

Before contacting the township with concerns of an overly high bill, please perform the following task:

Turn off all the taps in the house, then look at your water meter to see if the low-flow indicator (red triangle) is moving.  If it is, there is a leak somewhere in the house. In the case of the newer digital water meters, a dripping faucet will appear in the display indicating there is a leak in your home.  Running toilets are a major cause of overly high water usage and can use 200 gallons of water per day.  Watering grass also consumes large quantities of water.

If a running toilet or dripping faucet is the problem you will need to call a plumber.  Leaks are the responsibility of the home owner. 

If there does not appear to be a leak, we suggest you monitor your water usage on a daily or weekly basis to see how much water you are using.

Water and sewer invoices are processed four times per year and property owners have at least 30 days to pay the bill. Please keep in mind that utility bills received in January of each year are estimated based on the previous three billings.  Therefore, when your meter is physically read again in March/April of each year, adjustments may be required based on actual usage.
