A product of the former Cornwall Township Minor Hockey Association, Newell Brown has lived the dream of every Canadian boy who has ever laced on a pair of skates. After winning the Memorial Cup with the Cornwall Royals in 1979-80, he furthered his education by joining the powerful Michigan State Spartans, serving as team captain for his final three years and winning an NCAA championship in 1983.

After a short stint in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks, and captaining the Canadian National team in 1985-86, Brown's coaching abilities began to surface. A successful AHL coaching career with the Adirondack Red Wings led to NHL stops in Detroit and Chicago. He is currently the assistant coach of the Anaheim Ducks, after serving four seasons in the same position with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
