Bernard (Bunny) Warner is recognized as one of the finest lacrosse players ever produced in this area. His lacrosse career began in 1958 at the age of 14 as a member of the Long Sault-Ingleside Combines. In 1964, he was a member of the Cornwall Wildcats who won the Seaway Junior Lacrosse league pennant. In the mid-sixties, while working as principal of St. George's Separate School in Long Sault, Bunny played three nights a week on a team based in Granby, Quebec. Later, he was offered a position on a team coached by John Ferguson in Sorel.
