The Canada Post strike is impacting mail services to and from the Township. During the strike, we are not able to send out or receive mail. 

During the strike, please access Township Services and make payments electronically (see options below) or in person at Town Hall.

Important Note: If you mailed a cheque after November 11, 2024, we recommend you cancel it and deliver a replacement to our Town Hall Offices (2 Milles Roche). A drop box is available after hours, located outside the main Township Office doors.

Payment Options During Strike

The Township of South Stormont offers the following alternative payment options for property taxes, water utility bills, and more:

  • In-Person: Payments for a number of services can be made at Town Hall (2 Milles Roche) Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Financial Institution Payments – Telephone/Online Banking: Property tax and water utility payments may be made at any financial institution or through your bank’s telephone or online banking services.
  • Pre-authorized Payment Plans: Property tax pre-authorized payment forms and water utility pre-authorized payment forms are available online for monthly or installment payments. To view pre-authorized payment options or to register, visit our Pre-Authorized Payments page

Water Bills and Supplemental Property Tax Bills

Water bills and supplemental property tax bills will be printed and mailed once postal services have been restored. In the meantime, users are encouraged to sign up for e-billing, or phone the Township’s to review their bills or account balance, and/or make a payment. 

Garbage Bag Tags

Bag tags can still be purchased online, however customers will need to pick up their orders at Town Hall during regular operating hours. For Garbage Bag Tag online ordering, visit our Garbage and Recycling page

Vendor Payments

If you are a vendor with the Township expecting payments, please ensure you are set up for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payments by emailing accountspayable@southstormont.ca for the EFT form. For more information on payments, please contact the appropriate department below:

All other non-bill correspondence for the Township should be dropped off at the customer service desk Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We will provide an update once available and appreciate residents’ patience and cooperation during this time.
