South Stormont Celebrates Completion on Accessible Park Upgrades with $168,800 OTF Grant from Ontario Government

On Friday, local MPP Nolan Quinn met with representatives of the Township of South Stormont to celebrate the impact of a $168,800 Capital grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant enabled the delivery of accessible park equipment and upgraded safety surfacing at Melanie Warner-Cain Park in Ingleside, Mille Roches Park in Long Sault, and Henry de Rooy Park in Lunenburg—enhancing safety, accessibility, and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

“Safe, accessible parks are critical to our community’s health and wellbeing,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “Through this investment, our government is ensuring that our incredible parks remain places of relaxation and fun for families and friends in SDSG.”

The project addressed longstanding safety and accessibility concerns identified in the Township’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan. With aging infrastructure scheduled for decommissioning in 2024, the upgrades ensure these vital community spaces continue to serve all residents with modern, inclusive amenities.

“These parks are essential gathering spaces for our communities,” said Mayor Bryan McGillis. “Thanks to the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we’ve made meaningful improvements that will benefit families and individuals of all ages and abilities for years to come.”
