Township Recognizes Years of Service Milestones for Members of Fire Service

On Wednesday, November 19th, Council recognized significant years of service milestones for members of South Stormont Fire and Rescue. 

Joined by fellow members of the Fire Service and their supportive family members, a total of 18 firefighters received recognition for their milestone years of service, ranging from 5 to 40 years. 

“On behalf of all of Council and our community, we extend our most sincere gratitude to each and every member of our fire service. These community heroes dedicate so much of their time and energy to protecting and educating our community, and we couldn’t be more proud to call them our friends and neighbours,” said Mayor Bryan McGillis. 

“When we recognize the dedication and commitment of our fire service team, we must also recognize the incredible support and sacrifices made by their families,” added Fire Chief, Morris Lamer. “From missed family time to stressful and worrying nights, the families of our firefighters play a crucial role in supporting these brave men and women who continue to serve our community and keep us safe.”

The following firefighters were recognized during the Special Council Meeting:

5  Years

  • Eric Evans – Station 1
  • Noah Konink – Station 1
  • Grant Wilson – Station 1
  • Karley Kuzevski – Station 4

10 Years

  • Dakota Vandeglind – Station 1
  • Zach Gingras – Station 2
  • Patrick Ruest – Station 2
  • John Brisson – Station 3
  • Jared Steele – Station 3

20 Years 

  • Andrew Stewart – Station 4
  • James Walker – Deputy Fire Chief

25 Years 

  • Andrew Ter Horst – Station 1
  • Kevin Ter Horst – Station 2
  • Chris Beaudette – Station 3
  • Dan Poirier – Station 3

30 Years

  • Drew Cameron – Station 3

40 Years 

  • Larry Barkley – Station 2
  • Kenny Chisholm – Station 4
