Township Seeks Applicants to Join Long Sault Wastewater Treatment Plant EA Steering Committee
The Township of South Stormont is undertaking an Environmental Assessment for the Long Sault Wastewater Treatment Plant to plan for future growth and ensure the system continues to meet community needs. This process will evaluate options, consider environmental impacts, and identify the best approach for upgrades or expansion.
To support this work, the Township is establishing a Steering Committee that includes representatives from Council, staff, technical experts, and members of the public. The committee will provide guidance and oversight throughout the Environmental Assessment process.
Members of the Steering Committee will play an important advisory role by:
- Reviewing project updates, technical findings, and key milestones
- Providing input on options and proposed solutions
- Supporting informed and timely decision making
- Helping identify community perspectives, concerns, and priorities
- Encouraging transparency and public engagement
This committee is important because it helps ensure the project is well-informed, accountable, and reflective of community values. By participating, members will contribute to a major infrastructure project that will support the long-term sustainability and growth of Long Sault and the broader Township.
