Cooling Centre and Free Public Swimming Offered During Heatwave
With a significant heatwave ongoing in South Stormont, the Township is taking steps to help residents stay cool and safe over the coming days.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the following options available on Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3:
Cooling Centre Open
The South Stormont Community Hall (2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault) will be open as a cooling centre, providing a comfortable air-conditioned space to escape the heat. Bottled water will be available on site.
Hours:
Thursday, July 2, 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, July 3, 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Free Public Swimming
All public swimming sessions at the St. Andrews West Pool will be offered free of charge during the heat event.
Schedule:
Thursday, July 2, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday, July 3, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Splash Pads Open Daily
Residents can also cool off at local splash pads, open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

- Arnold Bethune Park, Long Sault
- Ingleside Community Park, Ingleside
Stay Safe in Extreme Heat
High temperatures can pose serious health risks. Residents are encouraged to:
- Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
- Limit time outdoors during peak heat hours
- Seek out air-conditioned spaces when possible
- Check in on neighbours, friends, and family members, especially those who may be more vulnerable
