New Partnership to Expand Primary Care Services in South Stormont

The Township of South Stormont has entered into a facility lease agreement with the Rideau St. Lawrence Family Health Team for Suite B at the Ingleside Medical Clinic located at 2 Thorold Lane. The partnership will bring expanded team-based primary care services directly to the community. 

On May 15, 2026, MPP Nolan Quinn announced that the Province of Ontario had approved $5.1 million to connect more individuals in Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry with primary care. Of this amount, the Rideau St. Lawrence Family Health Team received $1.3 million of the Inter-professional Care Team funding to expand its services.

Council approved the lease agreement on September 2, 2026. The lease provides the Rideau St. Lawrence Family Health Team with 2,510 square feet of clinical space for a minimum five-year term, with renewal options. The location was designed for medical service providers and will support the delivery of care in collaboration with the existing St. Lawrence Medical Clinic. The Township has also committed to expanding the parking lot to better meet the needs of all visitors. 

The new Ingleside team is expected to include: 

• 3 Nurse Practitioners (supporting a minimum patient roster of 2,400) 

• 2 Registered Nurses 

• 2 Registered Practical Nurses 

• 2 Medical Office Assistants 

• 1 Data Coordinator 

• 1 Office Manager 

Through this expansion, the Family Health Team aims to connect 3,300 patients with primary care by July 2027. Residents may have access to a team-based model of care that includes acute and urgent care, mental health supports, pharmacy services, women’s wellness, health promotion and disease prevention, and chronic disease management.

A grand opening is anticipated in October 2026, when the Rideau St. Lawrence Family Health Team expects to begin welcoming unattached patients and initiating the onboarding process. Recruitment, clinic setup and onboarding activities are underway, and patients are expected to begin being attached to a Nurse Practitioner by the end of December 2026.

Residents Without a Primary Care Provider 

Residents who do not currently have a family doctor or nurse practitioner are encouraged to register with Health Care Connect. The provincial program helps connect eligible Ontarians with a family doctor, nurse practitioner or primary care team accepting new patients in their community.
