What Information Is Needed to Register?

To register for the voters' list, we need a bit of information from you aside from property details. Below are a list of some of the questions in the registration form, possible responses, and what they mean. 

 Occupancy Status
  • Owner
  • Spouse
  • Tenant
  • Boarder

Occupancy Status helps us to determine who is a property owner, and who is living on a property as a tenant or boarder within South Stormont. All occupants are entitled to vote in the municipal election.

 Roman Catholic
  • Yes
  • No

Roman Catholic, if selected as yes, allows you to vote for either the English Separate or French Separate school board, depending on your answer to French Language Rights.

 Residency Status
  • Resident
  • Not a Resident Municipality

Residency Status determines if you are able to vote for School Support. If you own property in South Stormont, but do not live in South Stormont, you are not entitled to vote for School Support, therefore you must select No School Support. 

 French Language Rights
  • Yes
  • No

French Language Rights, if selected as yes, allows you to vote for either the French Public or French Separate school board, depending on your answer to Roman Catholic.

School Support
  • English Public
  • English Separate
  • French Public
  • French Separate
  • No School Support

Any resident may vote for English Public, however, only those who are Roman Catholic may choose the Separate school board, and only those who have French Language Rights may vote for a French school board.
