2022 Municipal Operating and Capital Budgets Adopted

South Stormont, ON – On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Council for the Township of South Stormont officially adopted the 2022 Municipal Operating and Capital Budgets. The 2022 budget represents a 3% municipal tax rate increase. 

Some of the capital projects scheduled for 2022 are:

  • Maloney Road reconstruction
  • Headline Road asphalt overlay
  • Lefebvre Road Bridge reconstruction

RRCA and Township Partner to Plant 300 Trees on Municipal Grounds

Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) board members and staff were recently joined by Township of South Stormont Council members and staff, as well as members of the Ontario Provincial Police and the general public in planting nearly 300 native tree and shrub species on the grounds of the Township’s municipal office, which border the south branch of the Raisin River.

At the September 22, 2021 Regular Council Meeting, the Township of South Stormont announced the 2020 winners of the Fran Laflamme Volunteer of the Year Award and the South Stormont Youth Volunteer of the Year to Mr. Marland E. Maloney and Ms. Lindsay Winters, respectively.

Township Office Closed September 30th to Recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Earlier this year, in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action, the Federal Government approved legislation to declare September 30th as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Deadline Extended for New Round of Regional Incentives Program Funding

The intake period for the next round of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Regional Incentives Program has been extended. Applications to the program, which is funded by SDG and administered cooperatively by the Counties and participating local municipalities, can be submitted until Aug. 31 at noon.
