Canada Day 2025 in South Stormont

South Stormont is once again the place to be to celebrate Canada Day! There will be two exciting events lined up for celebrations, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display along the Long Sault Waterfront!

Office Closure

The Township Office will be closed on Tuesday, July 1st for Canada Day. There will be NO CHANGES to garbage and recycling collection due to the holiday.

Cooling Centres Available During Heat Wave

Extreme Heat Alert – Cooling Centres Available 

With high temperatures expected over the coming days, the Township of South Stormont is opening Cooling Centres to help residents stay cool and safe. Cooling Centres at the following locations will be open on Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24 from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Council Chambers, Township Office (2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault)
Ingleside Masonic Lodge (11 Memorial Square, Ingleside)

Special Air Quality Statement Issued for the Region

A Special Air Quality Statement (SAQS) has been issued for the Eastern Ontario region, as smoke from wildfires is causing poor air quality that is expected to last from a few hours to a few days. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is advising residents to consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities while the statement is in effect. Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations.
