Tips to stay cool and safe during heat events.
Extreme heat and power outages can pose serious risks, especially to children, seniors, and pets.
Here’s how to stay safe:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Wear light-coloured, breathable clothing and stay indoors during peak heat (10 a.m.–2 p.m.).
- Prepare your home: open windows for a breeze at night, close curtains during the day.
- Check in on neighbours, and remember: heat stroke is a medical emergency, call 911 if needed.
