Kruger Energy L.P. and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. are developing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located in the Township of South Stormont, Ontario, in response to the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) request for proposals (the “LT1 RFP”). This program was launched to address regional electricity system needs, driven by increasing demand, the retirement of the Pickering nuclear plant, the refurbishment of other nuclear generating units, as well as expiring contracts for existing facilities.

If awarded a contract by the IESO, the proposed energy storage project of up to 150 MW will be sited on private land, located near the intersection of Cornwall Centre Rd. and Power Dam Dr.

PUBLIC COMMUNITY MEETING INFORMATION

Date: Tuesday, November 14, 2023
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Location: Council Chambers, 2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault ON, K0C 1P0
Proponents: Kruger Energy L.P. and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc.
Name of the proposed project: St. Lawrence Energy Storage Project

This public meeting is being held as part of the early community engagement requirements for the LT1-RFP. Proponent representatives will provide a short presentation about the project, beginning at 6:10 p.m. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session. At 7:10 p.m. the presentation will be repeated and then Q&A will resume. Should it be awarded a contract by the IESO, the Proponents will work on obtaining all required environmental and municipal authorizations to build and operate this battery energy storage system project, while pursuing engagement efforts with the community to share project information and updates.

While the broader community is also being invited, you are receiving this direct invitation because of the proximity of the proposed project to your property. We have determined that you are an adjacent landowner, which means that either one side or a corner of your property is shared with the proposed project site, or your property is across the street from the proposed project site. As such, it is a priority for us to begin a dialogue with you and we welcome the opportunity to speak with you ahead of the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting or would like to have a discussion prior to it, please contact us at (519) 617-5766 or by email at info@stlawrencebess.com.  All updates and resources will also be available on the dedicated website: www.stlawrencebess.com
