The Township of South Stormont and the South Stormont Chamber of Commerce proudly welcomed local business leaders on Wednesday, May 28, for the 2025 Mayor’s Breakfast—an annual event designed to strengthen relationships, share updates, and inspire collaboration across the community’s economic landscape.
The morning gathering offered valuable networking opportunities and featured a keynote address from Mayor Bryan McGillis, who highlighted several major initiatives aimed at supporting long-term economic growth. These included the Ingleside Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion, the recently completed Area Development Strategy for Township-owned lands in Ingleside known as Plan 279, and the forthcoming Economic Development Strategy and updated Community Improvement Plan set to begin development later this year.
“Events like this are more than just a breakfast, they are about coming together as a community,” said Mayor Bryan McGillis. “When you get business owners, Township officials, and regional partners all in the same room, great conversations happen. It shows that we’re all pulling in the same direction to keep South Stormont growing and thriving.”
Attendees also got a first glimpse of the Chamber’s brand-new website, designed to better serve its members and the broader business community. The platform features a member directory, a calendar of events, helpful business resources, and tools to help businesses boost their local visibility.
“The Chamber is a vital partner in our efforts to grow a vibrant, thriving business community,” said Chris Hemond, Economic Development and Communications Coordinator for the Township of South Stormont. “Their passion for supporting local entrepreneurs and raising the profile of South Stormont businesses is second to none. We encourage all local business owners to get involved and take advantage of everything the Chamber has to offer.”
