On Thursday, May 11, representatives from Council, Township Staff, members of South Stormont Fire and Rescue, and Battleshield Industries were on hand at Station 4, St. Andrews West to officially unveil a new Pumper Tanker added to the South Stormont Fire and Rescue fleet.

“The new Pumper Tanker is equipped to accommodate a full pump crew of four firefighters as an initial first response,” says Fire Chief Morris Lamer. “This new unit will be service the Station 4 response area for many years to come.”

The new Station 4 Pumper Tanker (PT4) is a 2022 Freightliner model custom built by Battleshield Industries Ltd., a leader in this space that has built other units for the South Stormont Fire and Rescue fleet in the past. PT4 replaces a refurbished year 2000 Pumper Tanker that was due for replacement to maintain compliance and community safety.

The purchase of the new Pumper Tanker was a budgeted line item and came in at a cost of $675,049.68.

Station 4 firefighters will be trained to use PT4 over the coming weeks, at which time the unit will be fully operational and ready to serve the community.
