The Township of South Stormont along with local volunteer groups are happy to provide older adults with social and recreational activities.

Below are a list of businesses, organizations and groups that offer recreation programming. Please see their information below and visit their website and/or social media platforms for updated information.

Shuffleboard

Shuffleboard is ongoing on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Long Sault Arena. The last session will be August 14.

Pay per season:
$25 for all Mondays
$25 for all Thursdays

Pay per day:
$3 drop in

Lancer Pickleball Program - Game Play

Located at 1 College St. Ingleside

Online registration for fall and winter pickleball opens August 18 at 9:00 a.m.! 

Non-resident Note: Non-residents must wait until Friday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m. to register for pickleball. If a non-resident registers ahead of this day, they will be withdrawn and receive a refund less a $15 administration fee.

Drop-in Note: Drop-ins are welcome to start 10 minutes after the scheduled play time to ensure registered players have had a chance to arrive. You will have to sign in on a waiver each time if you are dropping in but you do not register online.

Waitlist Note: If there are significant waitlists of residents, people who have registered for more than 2 sessions in the fall or more than 2 sessions in the winter will be asked to drop one to allow for more access to this game in our community.

South Stormont Pickleball is for everyone! Unless otherwise listed, you will find a mix of skill levels from beginner to advanced. If you have never played pickleball, it is recommended that you read up on/watch some videos to understand the basics to help you get started.

Rules and reminders:

  • If you are feeling sick or unwell, please stay home!
  • You may register for a session to ensure space for you every day that you attend or you can drop-in if space permits
  • Indoor shoes (that have not been used outside) are mandatory to keep the floors clean and safe
  • Please only enter 15 minutes prior to the activity and exit within 15 minutes after the activity

 

Lancer Pickleball Program - Learn to Play or Drill Sessions

Karen Bryan, certified coach and passionate pickleballer, has put together the below Learn to Play and Drill Club sessions. Online registration will open on August 18 at 9:00 a.m.

Learn to Play

These sessions are for people who are brand new to pickleball and want to learn. Learn paddle grips, rallying, volleying, groundstrokes, serves and returns, and scoring. We need at least 4 people in each session to run.

Learn to Play Session 2

Drill Club

Each drill club will have three 2-hour drill sessions meant for advanced beginner, low intermediate or intermediate players interested in completing drills to improve shot consistency and footwork, fast hands, and shot choice. These sessions will

Lancer Walking Group

Located at 1 College St. Ingleside

Registration details will be released soon and may be through Carefor instead of the Township.

The planned dates and times are still Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m..

The program will begin in October and run until sometime in April.

  • If school buses are cancelled or schools are closed, the gymnasium is not available for use and the program is cancelled for that day
